Shirley Wakelin

Shirley is a leadership and team coach with a particular interest in company culture and employee engagement and how the workplace can evolve to create a better future for us all.

Shirley believes that organisations are firmly positioned to shepherd positive change for our wider society. Company culture and employee engagement are intertwined with performance and she believes that so-called ‘soft’ skills are the new ‘hard skills’. She’s an advocate for ‘how’ we work being as important as ‘what’ we do, that culture emerges through the moment-by-moment interactions between us, and that every employee has personal responsibility for their role in shaping the wider system.  

Her background of 20 years in the Pharmaceutical industry in a variety of national and international leadership roles has given her a sound understanding of the complexities of organisational systems, and the challenges that leaders face.

Shirley seeks out forward thinking clients who are courageous enough to challenge the way they work and committed to making a positive difference to their sphere of influence. She helps leaders and teams connect with their potential through coaching, mentoring and training. Her clients are primarily in the health sector; pharma, medical devices and healthcare communication agencies.

Shirley has a Certificate in ICF Professional Coaching Skills with Coaching Development; a Certificate in Team Coaching with PB Coaching and David Clutterbuck; she’s a facilitator of Team Emotional Intelligence through Ei World; a Conversational Intelligence (CIQ) enhanced coach, and is accredited to use the Harrison Assessment Tool.
